Steve Robertson

At the age of 16, I had an interest in radio and knew that Thameside Radio (as it was) was my local station. Initially, I got involved by going round the wards, and then presenting various music, news and sports shows.

My current role is just a presenter, currently doing the 60s show on a rota basis on Wednesday evenings.

As I've been a member for over half my life, I've always enjoyed the community aspect. It's nice to broadcast the people and truly interact by getting an immediate response from the wards. As a Southend United fan, it has been great to be involved with the coverage of the local football team.

I was born in Hullbridge, lived in Rayleigh, and now live in Shoebury. I have been married to Gina for the last 10 years. We have adopted ex-racing greyhounds, and currently have seven year old Tommy (raised at Romford).

I've been a member of Hospital Radio for over 20 years, and have been involved in various community stations in the county. For awhile, I presented travel news to many of the local radio stations in the south east of England.

I ran my own mobile disco business for a couple of years and I'm glad I've escaped weekends of travelling up and down stairs with heavy speakers and amplifiers.
